Board Member: Mr. Nikile Ntsababa
Mr Nikile Ntsababa is the Registrar of the University of the Free State (UFS). He was previously Registrar at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT); before that he was Deputy Registrar at the same institution. He was also Faculty Manager: Management and Commerce at the University of Fort Hare, before being promoted and appointed as Director: Governance at the same institution.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Records and Archives Management from University of Fort Hare, a Master of Public Administration from Nelson Mandela University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from The University of Fort Hare. Some of the further certification and short courses he has completed includes a Certificate in International Higher Education Management from Vanderbilt University, Tennessee State in the USA, a Compliance Management Certificate from UCT, as well as a Certificate in Business Process Design for Strategic Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. He is a Certified Ethics Officer through the Stellenbosch University Business School and the Ethics Institute.
Board Member: Dr. Ronel Retief
Dr. Ronel Retief is the Registrar at Stellenbosch University (SU). She is the first female to hold this key position at the institution. Dr. Retief studied at Stellenbosch University where she obtained a BA (1992), HonsBA (1993), MA (1996) and DLitt (2005). She joined the University in 1998 as a Coordinator: Research Funding in the Division of Research Development and was appointed Assistant Registrar at the Tygerberg campus in 2003. That position was later upgraded to Deputy Registrar.
Board Member: Ms. Thandeka Ngwenya
Thandeka Ngwenya is employed as a Director Finance and Procurement at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a Masters Degree in Development Finance and her other qualifications include a Post graduate diploma in accounting sciences from UNISA and a BCom degree from the University of Natal.
Thandeka has 17 years of experience in finance and auditing. Having completed her articles with the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA) she went on to become a Finance Manager at the Agribusiness Development Agency where she was promoted to a Chief Finance Officer.
She has a passion for mentoring and coaching young professionals. Her other interests include hiking and traveling.
Chief Executive Officer: Mr. Selvan Govender
Selvan Govender joined PURCO as CEO in 2008, after senior management roles in multinationals such as Shell, BP, Henkel, Hoechst and Air Liquide. He holds a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, B.Com in Economics and Business Management as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
His impact on the Consortium and its contribution to the Higher Education Sector has been significant. During his tenure PURCO SA launched the PURQ PTY Ltd. academic information platform for Qualifications Verification and the PURCO SA Management Consultancy.
